Ann-Kathrin Lang and Alexander Richter presented the FACTS4WORKERS use case of Thyssen Krupp Steel Europe AG in their exciting talk at the KnowTech 2015 conference in Hanau (Germany) in one of the conference’s main sessions.

They received a very positive feedback from the huge audience listening to their talk “Smart Factories: Der Mensch im Mittelpunkt der Produktion von morgen”, which can be translated in “Smart Factories: The human worker in the center of production”. Many practitioners liked the FACTS4WORKER’s approach, where information technology is built according to concrete user needs and working practices in an agile, iterative, and worker-centric way. The talk has also raised a lot of attention during the numerous coffee breaks and networking events.

With more than 300 participants KnowTech is one of the largest German-speaking conferences dedicated to knowledge management, social collaboration and “Industrie 4.0” (in en: smart production). Knowtech is organized by BITKOM the Digital Association of Germany. The well-organized conference is mainly visited by practitioners from industry, and most of the talks were also led by industrial speakers including IBM, Accenture, Audi, Jaguar Land Rover, Microsoft, SAP, Siemens, BMW, Bosch, and many more.

The FACTS4WORKERS project also took part in KnowTech 2015’s blog parade on the “Future of Work”, which has gained a lot of attention in social media prior to the conference. The summary of the German-speaking Blog Parade has recently been published on the KnowTech Blog and is a good reading on the topic.
